Orphan Update
September 2013
The Lowveld Rhino Trust’s most recent two poaching orphans, Bebrave and Long Playing, were released back into the wild in March 2013. After an initial period of investigating their new home the pair has settled well and are regularly photographed by a camera trap set up at the water hole they were released at.
The successful release of these two black rhino orphans brings the total of hand raised rhinos returned to the wild in Bubye Valley Conservancy up to eight. The first two, Carla and Lisa-Marie, were released back in 2009. Both these females are now six years old and we are anticipating their first calves sometime in the next year.
